In light of the escalating Covid-19 pandemic, it is no longer appropriate to deliver the event in its original ‘mass participation’ format, but we don’t want that to stop you achieving the goal you have been training so hard for. We have therefore taken the decision to change the format of adidas City Runs: 1 Hour to a ‘Virtual Challenge’.

During this uncertain period, it’s more important than ever to try and keep active to protect your physical and mental wellbeing. With many events postponing or cancelling, we wanted to offer you – our valued participants – the opportunity to stay active, achieve your goal and get that hard earned medal around your neck! We hope that it will provide you with a positive distraction from the current situation we’re all having to deal with.

Since changing the format of 1 Hour to a Virtual Challenge, we’ve been blown away by the positive response from the amazing adidas City Runs community! Thank you all so much for your understanding and for embracing the Virtual Challenge with such enthusiasm and positivity.

So, here’s how the 1 Hour Virtual Challenge will work:

From next Tuesday March 24, we will send you your race pack containing your 1 Hour event tech t-shirt – most race packs will start to arrive from the following Tuesday March 31. We will include your medal within your race pack, but make sure you don’t put it around your neck until you complete the challenge!

·         From the moment you receive your race pack, you will be able to complete your 1 Hour challenge. Simply head out and run, jog or walk as far as you can in 1 Hour! If you are self-isolating and are unable to run, then why not attempt to complete an hour of exercise in a format that works for you? As long as you stay active for 60 minutes you’ll have achieved your goal!

·         Try to document your challenge and share it on social media, making sure to tag @CityRunsLDN. We want to share your achievement with the amazingly supportive adidas City Runs community and congratulate you for completing this challenge in the face of adversity.

·         To further incentivise you to complete the challenge, we’ve got five pairs of adidas SL20 running trainers to give away at random to 1 Hour participants who complete the challenge. To be in with a chance of getting your hands on one of the five pairs, simply tag us @CityRunsLDN when documenting your challenge.

·         If you haven’t already, please consider fundraising for our charity partner Refuge. Their amazing work helps women, children and some men escape domestic violence. Any amount you raise will be hugely appreciated by the team at Refuge and will go towards funding a range of specialist services to help survivors overcome many forms of violence and re-build their lives. To set up a JustGiving page, please click here.

Whilst, like us, you will be disappointed that the event can’t go ahead as planned, we hope you will be supportive of our Virtual Challenge and embrace it in the positive spirit in which it’s been created. This has been a very challenging period for everyone and it will bring us here at the adidas City Runs team so much pleasure to see you all rising to the challenge and earning that medal!
